Self Esteem is one of the most important traits a parent needs to develop. A child's self esteem will be carried along with them throughout their life into adulthood. It is so important for parents to truly create and environment to facilitate a child's self esteem because it is much easier to raise a child to have a high self esteem than it is to go back and try to help a child increase their child's self esteem after it has already been deflated. Although, it is not impossible!

Great post! Thanks!

When the natural anxiety is experienced, it can pass and we have limited recollection of it. However, our bodies store memories of specific events and emotions.

The trick is to find a way to keep the experiences passive and stop them fro being stored in the body somewhere. The BodyTalk system is designed to facilitate this transition.

Positive self-statements are very hard to initiate when you see others performing much better than you. Last week at a camp, I saw an example of a young girl learning to waterski. She tried many times and never got further than 20 feet. She made some self-deprecating statements but when her peers and counselors praised her effort and encouraged her to try again another day, she smiled. The support of others at times of discouragement or embarrassment is healing and can counteract negative self-statements.

Hello -
Your work is very valuable and I am a huge fan. Our son needs supports to help him deal with his anxiety and stress. Your products are a tremendous resource. However, I would encourage you to use People First Language when writing about people with disabilities.
May I suggest this site: http://www.disabilityisnatural.com/peoplefirstlanguage.htm
Your main page refers to "Specialized teachers are including our titles in "rescue kits" for Autistism, Asprergers, and ADHD children."
And . . .
"Mentally retarded adults are benefiting from our children's titles."
Once you are familiar with People First Language, you may choose revise this.
Sincerely,
Pam Harris

I want to order the book on bullying. I work in an elementary school and attempted to do a group on bullying with 3rd and 4th graders. i stopped b/c all the kids denied both bullying and being bullied. perhaps a story would be less threatening.

We as parents know that if kids are being bullied their self-esteem shrinks and stress and anxiety increase. We want to help our children by stepping in and giving them advise or an action plan some of which might not be helpful to their situation.

Lori Lite met Izzy at the National Association of School Psychologists annual conference in Boston and was impressed by his approach and action plan to being bullied.

If your child is being bullied or if you know of someone who is feel free to pass this blog article along to them. Work with your child and role play using the examples Mr. Kalman states in this article. Get your child comfortable with the responses. They might not be easy to say at first but with a little practice your child will be empowered to deal with bullies of all ages.

During this time kids need to feel safe, calm and reassured every step of the way. Kids are sponges when it comes to energy, vibrations of the home and their parents. The best thing we can do during these times is to bring peace and calm to ourselves and no matter what changes need to be made externally the kids will "feel" at ease if the parents are. As parents we are the frequency holders of our household these kids will respond to whatevery "frequency" we are on! Be open and honest about the changes in the world (age appropriate of course) and gather as a team, even ask their suggestions for changes and "cutbacks". They understand that we are all ONE and allowing them to be included in this process will prevent them from feeling sacred, uncertain and out of control. I am a 37 year old Indigo Adult raising three Indigo Children, educating yourself on this topic is also key at this time. Love to all!
